Changelog
PKMN v0.71.0 Beta
Battles:
- Helping Hand now boosts the partner's attack in double battles.
- In double battles, moves that pick a random foe now do, and Imprison seals moves known by either opponent.
- Castform now shows its weather forms in battle when Forecast changes its type; the game re-extracts once to add them.
- Life Orb recoil and Shell Bell now apply after a move knocks out the foe's last Pokemon; an orb that faints your last one too is a draw.
- Every Poke Ball that opens to send a Pokemon out now makes its opening sound, as in Emerald.
- A fainted Pokemon's health box now leaves the screen with it, so an empty spot in a double battle shows no box, as in Emerald.
Interface:
- An empty PC box can be deleted from its tab menu.
- The client now installs a small pack of our own item art beside the game files, ready for upcoming item icons.
- Every Pokemon now shows its Original Trainer, where and at what level it was met, the ball, and the date.
- The PokeNav, EXP Candy and soda icons now come from that pack of our own art instead of the legacy art download.
- A Pokemon can be released from the party or the PC after a confirmation; its held item goes back to the Bag.
- The Repel Tonic and the Exp. Reamplifier now have their own icons in the bag and on the action bar.
Fixes:
- Closing a window hands the controller focus back to the window underneath.
- The channel move notice no longer sticks on Consolidating.
- The ghosts of Pokemon Tower no longer drop out of step with the server every turn, with or without the Silph Scope.
- A ghost battle picked back up after a reconnect stays a ghost battle instead of losing step again on every turn.
- A bag or party that failed to load is no longer saved back empty over the stored one.
- Renaming a PC box works again: double-click the tab or press F2, type, press Enter.
- Your rival in Oak's lab walks out again when you finish his fight after a reconnect, instead of vanishing on the spot.
- Pokemon you see on Kanto signs and pictures stay in your Pokedex after your next battle instead of disappearing.
- A Pokemon that left your party and comes back after Rare Candies no longer stops your game from saving.
- The GM heal command now refuses during a battle instead of putting the party out of step with the world.
- HP Up, Protein, Iron, Calcium, Zinc and Carbos now raise a Pokemon's EVs.
- The Pomeg, Kelpsy, Qualot, Hondew, Grepa and Tamato Berries now lower a Pokemon's EVs and make it friendlier.
- Mind Reader no longer leaves its user invisible after the animation in Kanto battles.
- The Silph Scope's ghost-reveal animation now changes the ghost into its real Pokemon instead of running a Castform form change.
engine sha ca9e7f873f / asset pack 94d2e8cd9f246b4e / Godot 4.7.2 stable
platforms: Windows, Linux, macOS (universal)
Client and server must share both the engine sha and the asset pack: the login handshake rejects a mismatch on either.
macOS - the first launch needs one extra step. The app is ad-hoc signed but not notarized, so macOS refuses a plain double-click with "cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified". Right-click (or Control-click) the app and choose Open, then Open again. Once per download; updates the client installs itself do not re-trigger it. From a terminal the equivalent is:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "PKMN Engine.app"
Keep PKMN Engine.app and the pack folder together in the same folder -
the app looks for its assets beside itself, not inside the bundle.
